Montreal commuters are in for a special treat at the Place-des-Arts station this Tuesday as the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) partners with the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) to create a unique symphonic experience.
In celebration of the city’s 60th anniversary of the metro system and the launch of the OSM’s 2026–2027 season, the familiar metro chime will be transformed into a symphonic arrangement for a one-day event.
Mélanie La Couture, president and CEO of the OSM, emphasizes the powerful impact of symphonic music, stating, “Symphonic music has a way of captivating and resonating with all types of listeners, regardless of their experience level. By infusing the metro chime with the artistry of our musicians, we hope to give commuters at Place-des-Arts station a taste of the incredible performances awaiting them at Maison symphonique this season.”
