Peel Police Capture Fugitive Linked to Attempted Murder Case in Manitoba
Peel Regional Police have finally apprehended a man sought in connection with an attempted murder case dating back to 2022. The investigation was initiated following a shooting incident in Brampton, at the intersection of Queen Street East and Rutherford Road, where a man sustained serious gunshot wounds but thankfully survived.
After diligent efforts, authorities conducted raids across the Greater Toronto Area in May 2023, resulting in the seizure of five firearms, approximately 10 kilograms of methamphetamine, and substantial quantities of fentanyl and cocaine. Subsequently, a nationwide warrant was issued for Nakeem Jamar Johnson’s arrest on charges that include attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and various weapon and drug offenses.
Finally, on September 22, the 36-year-old suspect was apprehended in Cross Lake, a remote community in Manitoba, thanks to the assistance of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Johnson was transferred from Winnipeg to Brampton for a bail hearing.
