Get Ready for Fall: Free Flu and COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign Starting Soon
Exciting news for Quebec as the annual vaccination campaign is on the horizon! Starting from October 20th, appointments for flu and COVID-19 shots can be easily booked online via Clic Santé, beginning October 13.
Quebec’s health ministry has announced that certain vulnerable groups, including seniors ages 65 and older, residents of senior care facilities, individuals with chronic illnesses, and expecting mothers, will receive the vaccinations free of charge. Additionally, caregivers and those residing with high-risk individuals will also be eligible for free vaccinations.
These vaccinations are crucial in reducing the risk of severe illness and hospitalization, especially for those most vulnerable. With the COVID-19 positivity rate on the rise, it’s essential to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Recent data from the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ) showed a slight increase in the COVID-19 positivity rate to 5.1%, highlighting the importance of vaccination in combating the spread of the virus. In contrast, influenza levels have remained low, with a positivity rate of 1.4% during the same period.
Remember, flu vaccines take two weeks to reach full effectiveness and provide protection for at least six months. If you’ve recently had COVID-19, it’s safe to receive the vaccine after a six-month interval. Stay informed, stay protected – get vaccinated!
