Tragic Incident in Maple Ridge Leaves Woman Dead and Man Critically Injured
A devastating incident unfolded in Maple Ridge on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the death of a woman and leaving a man in critical condition after their pickup truck was struck by a train, according to authorities.
The RCMP responded to the scene at Lougheed Highway and River Road following the collision that occurred around 2 p.m. The woman was pronounced dead by BC Emergency Health Services at the scene, while the man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Mounties have informed CPKC Police about the incident, and the train operator is said to be cooperating with the investigation.
Fortunately, no other injuries have been reported in connection with the accident.
The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) is currently conducting an investigation into the tragic event.
