“Newmarket Crime Wave: Local Man Faces Slew of Charges”

Authorities in Newmarket, Ontario have apprehended a man believed to be involved in a string of offenses across the area.

The series of incidents began in June when the individual visited a home in the Gorham-College Manor neighborhood and left a note containing inappropriate content.

Continuing into September, the man was reported to have visited another residence on Eagle Street West and Davis Drive West, where he left another note with similar explicit messaging in the victim’s mailbox.

On a subsequent day in September, police were alerted to a man using a cellphone flashlight near a local hotel close to the Upper Canada Mall, exhibiting suspicious behavior.

Following investigations, law enforcement arrested John Stuart Weir, aged 40 and without a fixed address, linking him to the incidents that occurred between June and September.

Weir faces charges including trespassing at night, obstructing a peace officer, criminal harassment, and indecent communications.

Authorities suspect that there may be additional unreported incidents related to the case. Those with relevant information are encouraged to reach out to the York Regional Police.
