Two individuals, including a 14-year-old boy, were apprehended by Montreal police after a dramatic sequence of events involving a jewelry store robbery, a high-speed police chase, and a hit-and-run incident in the Anjou borough on Thursday afternoon.
The Montreal police (SPVM) sprang into action following a 911 call reporting a robbery at a jewelry store situated in the Place Versailles shopping mall around 2:30 p.m.
Allegedly, multiple suspects were involved in the heist and subsequently made a hasty escape in a vehicle. Their reckless flight culminated in a collision with another car at the intersection of Galeries d’Anjou Boulevard and Jarry Street. The suspects then ditched the vehicle at Neuville Avenue and de la Pleiade Street and fled on foot, as detailed by SPVM spokesperson Manuel Couture.
Police managed to recover a bag thought to have been abandoned by the suspects, although the source of the stolen jewelry remains a mystery pending further investigation.
Following the swift operation, law enforcement successfully apprehended two suspects, with one of them being a 14-year-old boy. Details regarding the second individual arrested have not been disclosed by the authorities.
The incident led to the establishment of a crime scene as the investigation continues to unfold with the aim of bringing clarity to the events that transpired.
