Gunfire Erupts in South Surrey: Police Launch Investigation into Violent Outbreak

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) is currently looking into an incident involving gunfire in South Surrey on Thursday evening.

According to authorities, the incident took place at a residential complex on 175A Street, just north of the Canada-U.S. border, around 7 p.m. following reports of shots being fired.

Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton stated that two suspects, described as men dressed in dark clothing, were seen fleeing the scene on foot. It remains unclear whether they have any ties to vehicles.

Despite law enforcement containing and conducting a thorough search of the area with the help of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service, the suspects have not been located.

The SPS confirmed that the individual believed to have been the target of the incident was found unharmed. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and it is currently unknown if there was any property damage.

While the incident appears to have been targeted, there is no indication at this time that it is linked to extortion, according to Houghton.

Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information or video footage to contact the SPS non-emergency hotline at 604-599-0502 and reference file 26-108223.
