Over the weekend, a large gathering of approximately 300 young people in the area of L.-P. Norman in Trois-Rivières caught the attention of local law enforcement. The group, consisting of about 160 vehicles, was reportedly engaging in street races, prompting a concerned citizen to contact the police around 10:25 p.m.
This is not the first time such gatherings have occurred, with similar incidents taking place over the past few weekends. In response to the call, eight officers quickly arrived at the scene and managed to intercept the drivers before they dispersed. The officers took action by issuing five notices of mechanical inspection for vehicle defects or modifications, along with 71 tickets for participation in an illegal assembly and 14 tickets for various violations of the Highway Safety Code.
The police intervention lasted just over two hours, effectively putting an end to the unauthorized street races and ensuring public safety in the area.
