The coroner’s inquiry investigating the tragic death of Regis Korchinski-Paquet faces a new challenge as her mother drops a startling revelation against police officers. Korchinski-Paquet tragically fell from her 24th-floor balcony while police were present in her shared apartment back in May 2020.
During her emotional testimony, Claudette Beals claimed she witnessed officers pushing her daughter towards the balcony, sparking concerns from legal representatives about undisclosed evidence. The officers involved were not given an opportunity to address this accusation during their earlier testimonies this week, prompting the presiding coroner to call for a recess for discussions on how to proceed.
Korchinski-Paquet, who had a history of epilepsy and seizures, had experienced two seizures on the day of her death. Despite being cleared of any wrongdoing in the incident, questions remain about how first responders handle cases involving epilepsy.
The inquiry aims to shed light on epilepsy awareness, public support for affected families, postictal delirium, and police responses, emphasizing the need for better understanding and cooperation in such sensitive situations.
