Vancouver Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS) was called to 1255 West 14th on Saturday night for an apartment fire.
VFRS arrived on site at 8 p.m. to find fire and smoke showing from the 10th floor of an 11-floor concrete building.
The fire was upgraded to a second alarm fire upon arrival of firefighters.
The apartment was unoccupied when the fire broke out but two dogs were in the suite.
The two dogs were rescued from the fire and treated on scene with a pet mask and saline for minor burns. They were left in the care of the Vancouver Police Department at the time.
The fire was contained to the one apartment.
All residents were allowed to go back to their units after the fire was put out.
There was slight water damage to five suites via a plumbing leak attributed to the fire.
VFRS is reporting that the fire was accidental.
11 fire units and 48 firefighters responded.
