Queen of Surrey sailings to resume after delays due to mechanical issue

Sailings on the Queen of Surrey have resumed.

For at least the third time in just over a month, the vessel dealt with issues that led to sailing cancellations or delays on Tuesday.

The first sailing after the repair was the 4:45 p.m. leaving Horseshoe Bay.

“The propulsion system mechanical issue with our vessel on the Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver) – Langdale (Sunshine Coast) route has been repaired,” the company said.

The following sailings had been cancelled: the 12:10 p.m. leaving Horseshoe Bay, the 1:15 p.m. departing Langdale, the 2:25 p.m. sailing departing Horseshoe Bay and the 3:35 p.m. leaving Langdale.

Around 1 p.m., the company announced water taxis were being brought in.

“Complimentary 12-passenger and 38-passenger water taxis have been sourced and will commence service at 2:30 pm from each terminal,” BC Ferries’ service notice says.

“Access to the water taxi at Horseshoe Bay will be at the Government Dock and at the foot passenger water taxi dock near the Langdale terminal.”
