A tragic incident occurred in Pickering as a 69-year-old man lost his life in a vehicle collision.
According to authorities in Durham Region, a pedestrian was hit by a black SUV in the parking lot of the Brookdale Centre near Highway 2 and Walnut Lane late Saturday night. The impact trapped the man beneath the vehicle, leading to a fatal outcome.
In a statement, the police mentioned that responding officers managed to lift the SUV to rescue the pedestrian and administered life-saving procedures. Unfortunately, despite the swift actions of the emergency services, the pedestrian could not be saved.
The driver of the SUV stayed at the location and cooperated with the ongoing investigation.
