The Montreal Canadiens have secured promising forward Kirby Dach for another year with a lucrative US$3.6 million deal, as confirmed by the NHL club on Thursday. Dach, a restricted free agent following the previous season, showcased his talent with eight goals and seven assists in 37 games for the Canadiens. The 25-year-old hailing from Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., continued his solid performance in the playoffs, contributing four goals and an assist in 19 games as Montreal made a significant run to the Eastern Conference final. Standing tall at six-foot-four and weighing 221 pounds, Dach was initially drafted third overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2019 NHL draft. His journey led him to Montreal after a trade at the 2022 NHL draft, where he was exchanged for the 13th overall pick and a third-round selection.
