The Signal Hill Wildfire, first detected on July 15, has now been classified as under control, with the fire expected to stay within its current boundaries. The Village of Pemberton hails this development as a significant step forward in combating the fire, believed to be of human origin.
However, the village alerts residents that an evacuation notice remains in effect for specific areas, emphasizing the need to adhere to evacuation protocols and stay updated through official communication channels.
The BC Wildfire Service notes that the fire covers an area of less than one square kilometer. Furthermore, latest data reveals a total of 107 active wildfires in the province, mainly concentrated in the southern interior. Notably, the Brunswick Creek and Ainslie Creek fires in Boston Bar are still raging uncontrollably, prompting continued evacuation orders for the affected regions.
Currently, 401 evacuees are receiving assistance throughout British Columbia, with 580 properties under evacuation orders and 1,805 properties on high alert for potential evacuation.
