Amidst new wildfires in British Columbia’s Fraser Canyon, evacuation orders are expanding to ensure residents’ safety. A blaze south of Boston Bar near Brunswick Creek has spiraled out of control, prompting urgent calls for locals to evacuate.
The latest evacuation notice encompasses the Hells Gate area, downstream of Boston Bar, where the flow of the Fraser River narrows. Additionally, properties along Scuzzy Creek Forest Service Road on the river’s west side are also under evacuation orders.
On Tuesday evening, the Fraser Valley Regional District mandated immediate evacuations for any remaining residents in Boston Bar due to a rapidly spreading wildfire fueled by strong winds.
Authorities have issued an Evacuation Order for several communities, including Boston Bar, Boston Bar First Nation, North Bend, and Canyon Alpine, emphasizing the significant risk to life and safety posed by the new wildfire.
Further south, an evacuation alert has been issued from Hells Gate to the Alexandra Bridge, a historic suspension bridge dating back to 1926. In response to the escalating Brunswick Complex Wildfire, an Evacuee Reception Centre has been established at the McArthur Island Sports Centre in Kamloops to assist displaced individuals.
