A member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is facing charges of assault following an altercation that took place during a traffic stop in North York earlier this year.
The OPP’s Professional Standards Unit initiated an investigation into the officer’s conduct after a driver was pulled over along Yonge Street on Jan. 2. The officer, who was in an unmarked vehicle, reportedly used a conducted energy weapon during the stop, leading to the driver’s arrest and subsequent transport to the hospital for evaluation. The circumstances surrounding the arrest prompted a thorough inquiry.
Kevin Noh, a 35-year-old from Richmond Hill and a provincial constable of nine years, was charged with assault and assault with a weapon on July 24. Currently serving in the OPP Highway Safety Division, Noh has been reassigned to administrative duties pending legal proceedings scheduled for Oct. 2.
