A 22-year-old Man Arrested in Drug Trafficking Investigation in Kitchener
A 22-year-old man from Kitchener is facing charges in connection with a drug trafficking investigation after being apprehended by Windsor police. Ziyad Shiekhai was taken into custody on Friday following reports of suspected drug-related activities within a restaurant located near Goyeau Street and University Avenue.
Police revealed that, based on witness accounts and video surveillance footage, they were able to identify the suspect with clarity. Subsequently, officers managed to locate a man matching the description near the intersection of Park Street and Pelissier Street. Despite an attempt to flee on foot, Shiekhai was apprehended by law enforcement.
Upon conducting a search subsequent to the arrest, authorities confiscated around 55 grams of suspected cocaine along with various other substances awaiting analysis. In addition, over $1,300 in cash, a pocketknife, a digital scale, and two cell phones were also seized by the police.
The 22-year-old man has been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance with intent to traffic.
