Adam Macko, a Slovakian-Canadian, recently made his debut in the major leagues with the Blue Jays, showcasing a 4.91 ERA with 23 strikeouts and 10 walks in 22 innings pitched. Originally from Alberta, Macko honed his skills at the Vauxhall Academy of Baseball and was initially acquired by the Blue Jays alongside Erik Swanson in a trade involving Teoscar Hernández back in November 2022.
On the other end of the trade, Josh Smith has displayed strong hitting performances in previous seasons but has faced challenges this year with a .213 batting average and negative defensive ratings. Nonetheless, the 28-year-old offers positional flexibility across various infield positions and occasionally in the outfield, with his contract extending until 2028.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old right-handed pitcher Josh Stephan, a triple-A starter, has recorded a 5.44 ERA with 97 strikeouts and 31 walks over 101 innings this season.
