Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is seeing a gradual return to normalcy as flights start to resume following a tentative agreement reached between WestJet and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the union representing the airline’s cabin crew.
Chloe Reynaud, spokesperson for YVR, announced that 21 WestJet flights are set to take off on Monday, marking the beginning of the restoration of services. Despite this progress, disruptions persist with 49 WestJet flights being cancelled throughout the day.
Passengers are urged by Reynaud to stay updated on the latest flight schedules before heading to the airport, as changes may still occur. It is anticipated that more flights will gradually resume in the upcoming days as operations stabilize.
YVR has bolstered its staff levels to provide assistance to affected travelers, offering support and guidance to help them navigate through ongoing cancellations and delays.
