A Former Top Pick Welcomes NHL’s Newest Rising Star
John Tavares, a seasoned player in the NHL, recently announced at a media event in Las Vegas that his new Toronto Maple Leafs teammate, Gavin McKenna, will be living with his family for the upcoming season. McKenna, an 18-year-old left winger from Yellowknife, was the Maple Leafs’ top pick in the latest NHL Draft after a successful collegiate season at Penn State, where he showcased his skills with 15 goals and 51 points in 35 games.
Tavares, a former No. 1 overall pick in the NHL Draft, is gearing up for his 18th season in the league, with the upcoming season marking his ninth with the Maple Leafs. This gesture of hosting young teammates is not new for Tavares and his wife, Aryne. Previously, they welcomed rookie Easton Cowan into their home last season as he embarked on his NHL journey at the age of 20.
