A fire erupted at a funeral home in downtown Oshawa recently, and authorities are now investigating the incident as suspicious, according to the Durham Regional Police (DRPS).
The incident unfolded at Mcintosh-Anderson Funeral Home located on King Street East near Ritson Road South in the early hours of the morning. Paramedics alerted Oshawa Fire Services after detecting the smell of smoke in the vicinity just before 4 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered an active fire that necessitated the demolition of the building to ensure safety.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the fire. Investigations into the cause of the blaze are ongoing, but law enforcement has stated that there are suspicions of foul play surrounding the incident.
In response to the unfortunate event, the funeral home released a statement on its website emphasizing the utmost priority placed on the safety and well-being of their families, staff, and the community.
