Ahead of the first World Cup Game at BC Place, be aware that several road closures may put you offside.

Vancouver will be hosting seven games at BC Place and road closures all around the arena will be effect on game days.

Pacific Boulevard has been closed in between Cambie Street and Carrall Street since May 23rd, and Granville Street closed in between West Georgia and Davie on June 8th.

A long list of road closures around BC Place include: Quebec Street from Pacific to Terminal, Expo Boulevard from Smithe to Quebec, Beatty in between Smithe and Robson, Carrall in between Pacific and Keefer, Pat Quinn Way from Pacific to Keefer, and Griffiths Way in between Pacific and Expo Boulevard.

If you’re going to the FIFA Fan Festival at Hastings Park, there’s no reports of road closures.

However, there will be a big increase in vehicle traffic in and around the PNE grounds, as well as increased transit service.

Speaking of transit service, there will be a dedicated suttle conneting the Fan Festival to the event grounds to the Expo and Millenium lines.

BC Place won’t be accesible from the Expo Line’s Stadium-Chinatown Station. The same goes for the Canada Line’s Yaletown-Roundhouse station.

Despite these restrictions from the main Skytrain lines, transit is still the preferred option to and from all of the game day sites.

No matter what option you’re taking, the big thing to remember is that volume and congestion will be extreme.

Give yourself an extra hour to commute, and make sure you go to the bathroom before you get on the road.
