“Emergency Teams Mobilize as Twin Brush Fires Erupt Near Montreal Metropolitan Airport”

Firefighters in Longueuil swiftly tackled two brush fires that erupted near the Montreal Metropolitan Airport on the South Shore this Monday. The fires were reported along the railway track on Rue de l’Aéroport at approximately 4:20 p.m.

Division chief Alain Lessard of the Longueuil fire service shared that the brush fires spanned across a one-kilometer stretch beside the railroad track, with a second fire also discovered near Rue Desautels and Highway 116.

Over 20 firefighters from six fire stations, along with the airport’s firefighting teams, collaborated to contain the blaze, successfully bringing it under control by 6 p.m. Fortunately, there were no injuries or damages reported from the incident.

At present, the cause behind the fires remains unknown, with authorities continuing their investigation.
