Premier David Eby welcomed a new group of international firefighters at Abbotsford International Airport, joining efforts to combat the ongoing wildfires in British Columbia. Alongside teams from Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand, personnel from Alberta, Quebec, and the Yukon are demonstrating strong cross-border partnerships during this emergency.
Forest Minister Ravi Parmar emphasized the importance of teamwork in wildfire response, noting that the collective effort, whether local, national, or worldwide, strengthens the province’s capacity to respond effectively to the fires. The recent influx of expertise from around the globe is seen as a crucial asset for the BC Wildfire Service in addressing the complex wildfires currently raging across various regions of British Columbia.
Premier Eby acknowledged the challenging wildfire conditions facing the province and expressed gratitude for the continuous support and resources being provided. As more than 100 wildfires continue to burn, the government is preparing for tough times ahead and appreciates the collaborative efforts of communities to protect and assist those affected by the fires.
