Montreal designer Hubert Poe is proudly showcasing his support for Pride through his latest designs that are scheduled to grace the runway at Fierté Montréal’s “Le Show du 20e” this Saturday evening at Olympic Park.
Organized by Michael Venus, also known as Miss Cotton, the show promises to be a vibrant celebration of queer culture, featuring a diverse range of performances by local artists paying homage to the LGBTQIA+ community’s historical struggles.
Poe’s upcoming designs for Pride weekend embody themes of identity, inclusion, and authenticity, drawing inspiration from past artistic movements and fashion eras.
Excited about the upcoming showcase, Poe shared, “There will be three designers presenting retro looks from the 80s and 90s. It’s going to be a mix of club kid and eclectic styles.”
Drawing on his background in fashion design, Poe explained his creative process as fluid, often sparked by fabrics and silhouettes that ignite his imagination.
Known for his exceptional designs, Poe’s creations have garnered attention nationwide, with appearances on Canada’s Drag Race and endorsements from prominent drag queens like Suki Doll, Rita Baga, and Giselle Lullaby. He emphasizes the importance of creating visually impactful garments in his design process.
“Le Show du 20e” offers free admission and will take place from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on August 8 at Esplanade du Parc Olympique.
