A violent incident took place on Granville Street in Vancouver where a teenager was attacked with a blade, leaving him with a serious facial injury. The Vancouver Police Department has revealed that one suspect has been charged in connection with the attack, while another suspect is still on the loose.
According to the VPD, the 19-year-old victim was with his friends on Granville Street when two men approached them. During the confrontation, the victim had his chain necklace stolen, and he was viciously slashed across the face. The victim endured a five-inch gash that extended from his nose to his eyebrow.
Following thorough investigations, the Crown Counsel has pressed charges against one suspect, identified as 29-year-old Garret William Thomas, who faces charges of robbery and aggravated assault. Thomas was apprehended in the Downtown Eastside, and is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
The VPD is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the second suspect involved in the attack. A photo of the suspect has been released, and anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the VPD’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541.
