A recent announcement from the Montérégie public health department revealed that an individual infected with measles had visited several public locations in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield from September 17 to 20.
Among the places visited during this period was an event at the Hôtel MOCO and a stop at Dooly’s bar on the evening of September 18–19, from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Residents who were present at these locations between September 17 and 20 are advised to monitor themselves for symptoms until October 11. These symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash. The health officials may reach out to individuals considered at risk of exposure to the virus for necessary follow-up.
Efforts are underway to identify and notify potentially affected individuals.
Measles, a highly contagious airborne disease, poses a greater threat to infants, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems. If symptoms suggestive of measles develop, individuals are urged to contact the Info-Santé hotline at 811 promptly.
