Police Probe Deliberate Blaze that Torched Vehicle in Montreal’s St-Leonard

The Montreal police department’s arson investigators are looking into a suspicious incident where a vehicle was reportedly set ablaze in the St-Leonard neighborhood of Montreal during the early hours of Wednesday.

At approximately 2 a.m., a concerned citizen contacted the SPVM to report a car engulfed in flames on J.-B.-Martineau Street near Viau Boulevard. Upon arrival, law enforcement found firefighters already at the scene working to extinguish the fire, which unfortunately resulted in the vehicle being completely destroyed.

Caroline Chèvrefils, a representative for the SPVM, stated that no evidence of accelerants was discovered at the location. However, certain aspects of the scene indicate that the fire was intentionally set.

The charred vehicle was towed for further examination by forensic experts as the investigation progresses.
