A homegrown artist is on the lineup at one of Canada’s biggest country music festivals.
Savannah Jade, originally from Rivière-du-Loup and now living in Montreal, will perform at LASSO Montreal on Friday, marking her first solo appearance at the festival.
Though she’s played the event before as part of a duo, this year’s set is her first under her own name.
Jade released her debut solo album on July 25, just weeks before the festival opens its gates at Parc Jean-Drapeau.
Before music, Jade spent years performing on ice. A former professional figure skater and coach, she helped build a local skating program and founded a small community initiative to support young athletes in her hometown.
In 2013, after an appearance on The Voice Quebec, she shifted her focus to music. That led to the formation of Five Roses, a country duo that found early success with the single “Might As Well Be Me.”
She spent time in Nashville to develop her solo sound and identity.
“I took about a year to go to Nashville to do some writing and writing my own songs and choose between pitches that I had to,” she said. “When you’re in a duo, you have to compromise to get on the same level. But now it’s just 100 per cent me. I’ve enjoyed both of these projects, and I’m just having a blast right now.”
Jade launched her solo career two years ago and has since gained attention with her first singles, “He’s the One” and “More Like It,” which now have more than three million combined streams.
“When I put out my first single, it went on the chart, number 27, I think,” she recalled. “I was amazed by that. So grateful. I never thought my first single would go that far into Canadian radio.”
Her newly released self-titled debut album features eight tracks, including a cover of Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know.” It was produced by a team of Canadian collaborators and blends country roots with a pop-rock edge.
“My sound is much more toward rock country, also with a sprinkle of pop. I like big drums, big guitars, and just a heavy sound.
“Some of these songs I’ve written two years ago. Some I wrote on my last trip to Nashville in February. And some are pitches too. I’ve been sitting on that album for two years now. I just thought it was time to put those songs together — because they really represented my mental state throughout the process. It’s all about the journey of being better and being positive — just better, not bitter, as I like to say.”
Her latest radio single, “I Don’t Have Exes,” was also released on July 25.
“It’s just a fun song, and again, it’s about the glow-up after the bad relationship. We don’t talk about the exes.”
LASSO Montreal takes place August 15–16 at Parc Jean-Drapeau on Île Sainte-Hélène. This year’s lineup includes headliners Bailey Zimmerman and Jelly Roll, alongside artists such as Riley Green, Shaboozey, Tucker Wetmore, and more.
Jade is scheduled to perform on Friday from 4:40–5:10 p.m. on the Coca-Cola RANCH stage.
“I’m so excited. I’m excited 15 out of 10,” Jade said. “LASSO is one of my favorite festivals — if not my favorite. I just love to be there. It’s fun that I get to see my friends and family since it’s near my hometown.”

As someone who grew up in a small Quebec town, Jade said she’s thrilled to see the country music scene growing in the province.
“Country music has always been really big there,” she said. “But it’s getting bigger and bigger in Montreal, and I’m just having a blast. I think it’s great, and I’m so happy about it.”
Jade shared this message for fans heading to LASSO this weekend: “Thank you so, so much for streaming my song and asking for it on the radio,” she said. “Nothing would be possible without you guys, and I’m just so happy and excited to see you all on Friday.”
